It makes sense that one of the most responsive boots on the planet would have a Step On option: what’s the point of instantaneous inputs and maximum response if it’s all going to be lost in the slop of straps? The Burton Ion Step On Snowboard Boots eliminate the hassle of straps and let you have a real sole-ful connection with your board. Just step on and slide off. The Ion comes in a firm flex with extra heel retention from the Snugger Strap, so just because its super easy to use, don’t think for a second that it’s not a responsive, high performing all-mountain boot. This one’s definitely worthy of the classic name Ion!

Flex

Stiff Flex: 8 (1 Soft – 10 Stiff)– Aggressive and responsive, a stiff flex is made for quick edge engagement and control at speed.

Fit

1:1 Firm Flex PowerUP Tongue– Burton offers 1:1 lasting on every boot. It means every half and full size shell, tongue, and out sole offer a precise fit that is not as common as one would think. Drop your loot on a Burton boot and you won’t be stuck with the slop of a mismatched shell and liner. PowerUP tongues feature additional dual-density material for rebound and durability.

Snugger Strap– This ankle strap is built into Step On™ boots and allows the rider to adjust heel hold and forward flex stiffness. Controlled by a Boa® dial and Warrantied for Life performance of Burton-exclusive New England Rope laces.

Liner

Life Liner– The Life Liner fuses lightweight materials with a more relaxed feel for high-end performance that makes all the difference during long seasons filled with hard charging days. The responsive PU tongue construction provides a combo of cat-like quickness and long-term resistance to breakdown, while also accommodating a better fit for all foot shapes.

DryRide Heat Cycle™ Lining– Warmth and wicking are two key traits for on-snow comfort. Burton’s breathable inner-lining technology utilizes interwoven thermally activated carbon thread to capture, radiate, and reflect body heat inward to keep feet warmer while also wicking heat-robbing moisture outward. Look for varying amounts and performance level of each liner.

Tuff Cuff Lite– Ankle support and inner cuff stability is mandatory in a pro-level boot. Burton’s solution is the Tuff Cuff, which increases heel hold and wraps the ankle with medial and lateral support while still flexing freely from toe to heel.

Ability Level: Advanced-Expert Advanced-ExpertWhether you charge the steepest lines, hit the biggest jumps in the park or carve with race-like precision, advanced to expert level skis, snowboards, boots and bindings are for the more aggressive rider. In skis and snowboards, you’ll often find layers of metal, carbon or other stringers for rigidity and power, while advanced to expert level boots and bindings are usually on the stiffer side of the spectrum for rebound and precision steering.

Flex Rating: Stiff StiffThe amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers’ number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
