Maybe you don’t have the same freeride background as Xavier de le Rue – not many do – but if your most fervent desire is to rip big mountain terrain where no lift exists, the Rossignol XV Split Splitboard is the tool for the job. With a special flex pattern that gives you power under the front foot in questionable terrain and the ability to wash the tail when you need to scrub speed in hurry, a high tech THC core and Aramid and Basalt to lend strength and calm the chatter, the XV Split is a backcountry powerhouse you won’t want to leave the trailhead without.

Rocker Type

AmpTek Elite Rocker– AmpTek Elite features stiffer tips and a softer waist with 60% camber between the feet for explosive pop and stability, and 40% rocker at the tips for catch-free spins and landings for total freestyle domination.

Flex

Flex Rating 9 (1 Soft – 10 Stiff)– Stiff under the binding areas for punch and grip underfoot with a stiffer waist for stability at high speed.

Reverse Super Directional– A very directional inverse flex, extremely stiff under the front foot for confident control and maximum power in demanding terrain, medium stiff under the back foot for more nimble maneuverability, with a stiff waist for increased stability at speed.

Roller Base Technology– Roller Technology raises the edges off the snow, providing no-catch edge control, ridiculous float in powder, and grip when you want it, never when you don’t. A milled core just pas the contact points reduces swing weight at the tip and tail, directing snow around the board for increased stability at speed and effortless float in powder.

Basalt– Stronger and lighter in weight than fiberglass with more elasticity than carbon. Basalt enhances board feel, power and stability while absorbing impacts and vibrations.

Microcell– A PU material that’s integrated into wood cores to reduce weight and deliver increased snap, pop, and liveliness.

Glass Fiber– Delivers customized flex with increased torsional resistance and stability.

7M Serrated Edges– Rossignol’s exclusive edge technology offers seven points of edge contact (three between the inserts and two on either side of the inserts), improving bite and grip along the entire edge for better stability. Larger bumps provide better bite in firm conditions.

Terrain: Splitboarding SplitboardingA splitboard snowboard is built specifically for the backcountry rider. Splitboards are designed to break down into two separate halves for touring and uphill travel (with climbing skins). Special bindings are required as well. Once you’ve reached the top of the terrain feature, you reconnect your splitboard for the ride back downhill. However, it’s important to note that you will need appropriate backcountry tools, knowledge of the backcountry, weather and snow conditions and climbing skins to safely take advantage of the freedom of a splitboard.

Ability Level: Advanced-Expert Advanced-ExpertWhether you charge the steepest lines, hit the biggest jumps in the park or carve with race-like precision, advanced to expert level skis, snowboards, boots and bindings are for the more aggressive rider. In skis and snowboards, you’ll often find layers of metal, carbon or other stringers for rigidity and power, while advanced to expert level boots and bindings are usually on the stiffer side of the spectrum for rebound and precision steering.

Rocker Type: Rocker/Camber/Rocker Rocker/Camber/RockerRocker/Camber/Rocker shapes seek to give you both hard-carving edgehold on firm snow from camber underfoot with enhanced turnability and float in powder from the rockered tip and tail. This profile is increasingly popular for freeride boards designed primarily for soft snow.

Flex Rating: Stiff StiffThe amount a snowboard flexes varies significantly between boards. Snowboard flex ratings are not necessarily standardized across manufacturers, so the flex may vary from brand to brand. Many manufacturers will give a number rating ranging from 1-10, 1 being softest and 10 being stiffest. Here at evo we have standardized the manufacturers’ number ratings to a feel rating ranging from soft to very stiff. Generally you will find flex ratings of 1-2 as soft, 3-5 as medium, 6-8 as stiff, and 9-10 as very stiff. Flex ratings and feel may ultimately vary from snowboard to snowboard.
