Weston knows the more you assume about backcountry conditions, the more you’re likely to be in for a surprise – that’s why the ultra versatile Weston Backwoods Splitboard was developed with an eye to handling every “wild” snow type you’ll encounter and with enough guts to go from steeps to tree lines with ease. A directional rocker-camber-rocker shape and mid-flex of “6” deliver solid performance whatever the mountain throws at you.
              Â
Rocker Type
      Â
Directional Freeride Camber–        Subtle rocker in the nose and tail provide additional float without losing stability. Camber underfoot provides confident edge hold and pop.
      Â
Flex
      Â
   Flex Rating–        6 (1 Soft – 10 Stiff)
      Â
Shape
      Â
   Directional Freeride with Slight Taper
      Â
Core
      Â
91% Poplar / 9% Bamboo–        Sustainably harvested, this blend keeps the board smooth and powerful.
      Â
Laminates
      Â
Tip to Tail Carbon–        Carbon fiber run through the entire core from tip to tail to provide added pop and response.
      Â
      Â
Tri-Axe Glass–        Multi-axis, stitched fiberglass laminate that offers a precise and responsive ride in any Âterrain or snow conditions.
      Â
Sidewalls
      Â
Polyurethane–        Polyurethane is poured during construction to form a single, unifiedpiece of sidewall wrapping around the entire core for increased strength and durability. Because of this process, it also creates less waste material than other sidewall options.
      Â
Base
      Â
Sintered Durasurf 4001–        The gold standard in bases. The 4000-series sintered bases have a higher density than other options on the market, and are therefore more durable. Additionally, it absorbs more wax, making for a faster and smoother ride. 4000-series PTEX is usually reserved for only top-of-the-line boards due to a higher manufacturing cost, but at Weston it’s the minimum standard.
      Â
      Â
   Boltless Base
      Â
Topsheet
      Â
Rugged Topsheet–        Polymide is eco friendly and made from castor beans. The topsheet is durable and resistant to scratches and scuffs.
      Â
Additional Features
      Â
Karakoram UltraClips and Active Joining–        Karakoram UltraClips and Tip-Locks use Active Joining to spring load the seam of your splitboard, eliminating the rattling shearing, and rolling inherent to passive slip-fit connections. Simply close the lever to lock in the most responsive ride.
      Â
      Â
Rooted Inserts–        The odds of pulling out inserts on a snowboard are about zero, but just to make sure Weston have reinforced all of the inserts areas with precision-cut sheets of flax. This improved durability and naturally dampens chatter. Additionally, flax is a sustainable crop and is good for the environment.
      Â
      Â
Split Tech–        Weston doesn’t skimp on their splits. You’ll see a full inner metal edge, complete with sidewall and dampening tape. Also, when facing a kick-turn on a steep slope, you want all the help you can get – that’s why Weston balance’s their splits so that they are tail heavy.

-    Terrain:    Splitboarding                                    SplitboardingA splitboard snowboard is built specifically for the backcountry rider. Splitboards are designed to break down into two separate halves for touring and uphill travel (with climbing skins). Special bindings are required as well. Once you’ve reached the top of the terrain feature, you reconnect your splitboard for the ride back downhill. However, it’s important to note that you will need appropriate backcountry tools, knowledge of the backcountry, weather and snow conditions and climbing skins to safely take advantage of the freedom of a splitboard.           Â
